Health and Safety

At Nexi, we are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and inclusive working environment across all our operations. As a responsible employer, we comply with international health and safety standards as well as national regulations in every country where the Group operates.

Health and safety assessments are conducted regularly in accordance with local legislation. These include physical inspections and the collection of employee feedback on well-being, ergonomics, and the physical work environment. Employees are actively encouraged to report any work-related hazards to their immediate supervisor, safety or labor representative, or the Human Resources department. In some countries, assessments are carried out in close collaboration with local health, labor, and safety authorities.

100% of employees are covered by a health and safety management system based on legal requirements. In 2024, the recordable work-related accident rate for our own workforce was 0.75, with no fatalities or serious incidents related to work injuries or occupational illnesses.

Health and safety information is shared through multiple channels, including the corporate intranet, the employee handbook, and direct email communications in emergency situations. Cooperation on occupational health and safety matters is governed by local laws and applicable collective agreements.

All employees receive health and safety training on a regular basis, tailored to their roles and responsibilities. Performance in this area is reviewed periodically by management. Although Nexi operates in a low-injury-risk environment, we remain vigilant in our commitment to workplace safety. We recognize that even isolated incidents can have serious consequences, which is why we prioritize proactive monitoring and robust safeguards. Our continuous improvements in this area reflect our dedication to employee well-being and risk prevention.

Workplace health and safety assessments are carried out according to current legislation in the Group’s various geographies. During these assessments, the workplace is examined through physical inspections, but also by gathering feedback from employees on their well-being, physical environment, and ergonomics. Employees are also encouraged to report any work-related hazards by informing their immediate supervisor, safety, and labor representative, or human resources. In some countries, the assessment is conducted in close collaboration with local health care and labor and safety councils.

In Italy, for example, Nexi maintains an internal shared repository, accessible to the Real Estate & Facility and Security teams. This tool is used to log all observations and improvement suggestions arising from H&S inspections and reports submitted by Safety Representatives (RLS) or supervisors. Each entry includes the nature of the anomaly, its severity, the designated owner, corrective actions required, and deadlines. Owners are notified via email, and once the issue is resolved, supporting documentation is collected to formally close the report. This system has been validated as part of Nexi’s ISO 45001 certification process.

In 2024, the absenteeism rate was 2.6% *, reflecting our ongoing efforts to foster a healthy and supportive workplace.

Nexi also promotes health and safety standards throughout its supply chain, requiring contractors and suppliers to comply with all relevant regulations and internal guidelines.

(*) The absenteeism rate is calculated including Italy, the Nordics, Poland, and Germany, whose workforce accounts for 78% of the total Group workforce.
